we can have the greatest impact for our NHS
Together we can be there for even more of our hardworking NHS staff to support wellbeing
It’s thanks to kind donations from supporters like you that NHS Charities Together were able to provide a grant to the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM). They used it to purchase this fantastic ‘wellbeing wagon’, which can be transported to each hospital for staff to book into.
Now NHS staff at Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital in Stafford can access a range of wellbeing support, as well as career development classes in this safe, private and dedicated portable hub.
“Often our hard-working staff don’t have time to attend workshops or classes across sites so our wellbeing wagon brings what’s on offer closer to them. We want to improve UHNM as a place to work as well as receive care.”
Lisa Thomson, Director of Communications and Charity at UHNM
we can be there for patients and their families during the most difficult of times
Treetops Hospice provides end of life care for terminally ill patients across South Derbyshire and Derby City Centre. Their Roaming Nurse Service helps patients at home with vital care at night. Between 9.30pm and 6am, the Roaming Nurses respond to telephone calls from registered families in need of support for their loved ones.
“I am so grateful for how those nurses treated dad in his final night at home. I honestly don’t know what we would’ve done if it wasn’t for them. As soon as they walked in the door, they were so reassuring, it just felt like you could just take a deep breath and relax. They made his final night at home as comfortable and peaceful as possible, which is all that you can ask.”
Thanks to this project, funded in part by kind and generous people like you, Anja’s dad got the care he needed at home. Without donations from the public, he may never have had the chance to spend his final night with his family.
630 patients were cared for and over 3,300 welfare and support calls were made between the nursing team and families like Anja's.

“It’s hard to admit that you have a problem. My generation would just brush over it and tell you to get on with it but these days everyone is a lot more accepting. The support I get from Pit Stop is amazing and it’s the main thing that has got me through my dark patch and why I am still here.”
